Every once in a while there is a really great restaurant that comes along that you just can’t stop raving about to your friends and family. In fact, a recommendation from our own good friend who has a Fort Lauderdale hood cleaning company, is exactly is how we heard about Blue Willy’s. He cleans the hoods in several kitchens in the area, so he knows which restaurants are top notch. Plus, he is a self-proclaimed barbecue connoisseur!
Blue Willy’s BBQ is located just north of Ft. Lauderdale in Oakland park, and it is well worth the drive from anywhere in South FL. They don’t have a website but they can be found on Facebook, here. They have some of the best Texas style BBQ around. You’ll be impressed with the menu and feel at ease with the laid back surroundings. Be sure to try the pastrami if you visit on Thursday. They also have some of the most amazing beef brisket we’ve ever had! Of course if you are looking for the best item on the menu, we recommend the ribs, hands down.
So, this next restaurant we found online, (click here to visit their website) and it came up number one in our search for BBQ in Fort Lauderdale! It has a ton of 5 star reviews, and seemed like a great place to check out. When we visited, it really lived up to those reviews! The name of the restaurant is Tom Jenkins Barbecue, and it is is widely recognized as one of the top 10 best BBQ spots in Fort Lauderdale, and for good reason! Patrons often comment that the aroma outside is so good that it’s nearly impossible to pass up the opportunity to grab a bite to eat when you are in the Fort Lauderdale area. The sauce alone is so good it should probably have an online fan club of its own!
Hickory Sticks BBQ is another must-try for any BBQ lover! You can count on this cozy and quiet location for some of the best fall off the bone pork ribs and excellent fries to boot! The side dishes are extra delectable and portions here are large. They even have daily specials that are great for when you want to save a buck or two! We heard about this one from our neighbor, and he is a pro at cooking his own barbecue, and has plenty of recipes that would impress even the pickiest of food critics.
Georgia Pig Barbecue Restaurant is another one to put on your BBQ bucket list. With fast service and the perfect variety of comfort food, this is one spot you have to try when in the area. It has a mom and pop feel, and is family owned, which is great! They have been in business for over 60 years, so they must be doing something right! However, just remember when you visit next time that they only accept cash. Check out more info on their website.
